Description
The South Africa 50 Rand banknote was issued by the South African Reserve Bank in 2018. Featured on its obverse are the coat of arms of the country and a portrait of its former president, Nelson Mandela. The banknotes reverse depicts a young Mandela, also known as Madiba, wearing traditional attire. In the background, the Nelson Mandela Capture site and field situated in Howick is displayed. The banknote that is 140 x 70 mm in size bears a holographic windowed security thread with the coat of arms, SARB, and 50 RAND. It also has a watermark that reflects Nelson Mandela and an electrotype 50. The banknote was printed by the South African Bank Note Company and carries the signature of governor Lesetja Kganyago.
