Description
This is second standard (Service No. 2) kukriissueв to
the British Gurkhas for training, exercise, assignment and combat. This khukuri's blade is unpolished from tip to tail including its two small accompanying knives. A rat tail tang goes through the handle (hidden) which is peened over at the brass butt cap.
Comes with two knives (karda and chakmak).
The scabbard is plain and simple made from water buffalo hide. It has double loop belt frog with a fasten-up system. The double loops are secured by black rivets for a strong fixture. A protective brass chape is also fitted in the scabbard for support and look. The unpolished watter buffalo horn handle provides better grip.
Very servicable and robust. Good condition overall.
The Khukri (Khukuri) knife, legendary close combat weapon of the Ghurka regiments. Ghurka soldiers joined the British Army since 1815 and after independence in 1947 they also serve in the Indian Army. The kukri has been used in all major battles in which the Ghurka regiments have served.
