Rare Victorian era NON•XLL brand hunting knife manufactured circa by the famous Joseph Allen & Sons in Sheffield, England. This is a more scarce "long blade" hunter - most of these had blades at 5" or shorter. The knife is about 10-1/2″ / 26.7 cm; the blade is about 6″ / 15.2 cm long; the knife has an excellent grip and sits quite nicely in the hand. The blade has been re-sharpened; it’s razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. No edge nicks or dings on the spine – rare this nice. Ebony wood handle has an age-related thin crack on one side; in spite of it the handle is solid with no play. Original tubular leather sheath in good overall condition, considering the age. The leather is a bit dry, but most of the original stitching/the belt loop are intact (some stitching has parted at the tip).

had been one of the best makers of knives, bayonets, swords, and various cutlery in the British Empire since 1
864

they are no longer in business. This is a very well made Hunter
– excellent overall quality and balance; the blade is intact; hard-to find original tubular leather sheath is included. The handle is finely carved exotic African ebony wood with the nickel-silver bolster.

Original leather sheaths of this period are VERY hard to find nowadays since they typically don't last as long as the knives. This scarce Victorian era hunting knife will be a great addition to any collection.
