HUGE ANTIQUE BOWIE FIGHTING KNIFE FRONTIER MOUNTAIN MAN NATIVE AMERICAN....
This is an awesome item! A huge Bowie or Fighting Knife, with antler hilt and large brass ball pommel. Large sharp clip point.  Has a huge deer skin sheath, and comes in an antique Maple wood case.
This came from an estate in Eagle Mountain, Idaho. This area is home to the Shoshone and Nez Perce tribes.
Dimensions are 27" overall length. Blade is 19" long, with a 8" double handed hilt. Blade is 4 1/2" wide at hilt. Spine is 1/2" thick, and blade is approximately 1/8" in thickness. Looks like an old Plow,  or log splitting blade. Antler handle, brass Crossguard, and huge bronze ball Pommel.
Very large, huge Big Man's Knife! Weighs right at 5 pounds by itself. Very well made. Blade and Clip Point, are both Very sharp. No markings that I can find.
I believe the knife dates to early Frontier period. Around 1820-1850. Possibly could have been used in Civil War. But I can't guarantee when made. Looks like sheath may be a later addition. Case looks like tiger maple. Brass hardware, single edge screws.
This is the largest knife I have ever owned! A real eye opener!
