    Description:
    A nice very fine Banknote from South Africa. This is the South African Reserve Bank Five Pounds note issued 8 September,1929. This is the first date for the type and as such key date. The banknote is green on brown and pink underprint on the front. The front displays the image of a sailing ship in the harbor with small boats ferrying supplies to the shore and a shining sun. There are men carrying packages on their backs climbing a hill, a covered wagon with a woman tending a fire and two men herding cattle. There is also a train crossing a bridge, with factories and mountains in the background all along the bottom of the front. The note is signed by Clegg. The back of the note is green with the South African arms in the center and the denomination as well as the name of the bank spelled out in English and Afrikaans. The front is also written in English and Afrikaans and shows the date, the serial number, and ne signature. The note has a water mark depicting the image of Jan van Riebeeck. This particular note has the serial number 469377, which is displayed twice in black ink, and has the prefix B over 6. The note is graded as Very Fine 25 by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. A great note that would make a great addition to your collection.
