Antique Handmade Long Hooded Cloak Cape Black & Red Velvet Opera Coat Costume Lined.
From my grandmother’s estate, this long hooded cloak was handmade, I believe in the 1930s-1940s. It features black velvet fabric with red velvet detail and is lined with a beige satin fabric. It is old and has seen better days. There are spots on the interior satin lining, armpit seams have separated in areas, there is a tiny hole in the black velvet about half way down on front left of cloak, 1 1/2” tear in black velvet seam on left sleeve, a 1” tear in seam on left shoulder and a split in red velvet seam lining on hood. It needs a little repair work and a professional cleaning, but is so very cool, it’s worth the trouble.
Approximate Measurements:
Shoulder to Hem: 52”.
Armpit to Sleeve Hem: 15”.
It is quite heavy, weighing over 2 lbs.
