    Description

Original 19th Century Afghan/Persia Choora Pesh Kabz Kard Armor Piercing Dagger #107
Well made knife with stout recurved blade and reinforced T spine.  Brass over wood scabbard. Very good condition, slight movement in scales. Overall length: 13.25” Blade length: 9”.  Mideastern symbols on top of blade.  The
Choora is the knife of the Mahsud, a tribe of the Khyber Pass area between Pakistan and Afghanistan.  It is like the Peshkabz but made in Khyber.  This type of weapon was widely used in all areas of North India, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other central Asian countries.  "
This knife is obviously intended for forcing an opening in mail; and as a piece of engineering design it could hardly be improved upon for this purpose"
    (Stone, Arms and Armour, p.494).
.  They all have a similar shape of blade but differ in the shape of the hilt and decoration.
Please see pictures and make your own opinion regarding condition etc.  I am not a weapons expert by any stretch of the imagination.
This knife is from an extensive collection of world edged weapons assembled in the 1970's & 80's by a Northern Florida antique dealer.
I do substantial research in trying to identify and fairly price rarer collectibles, but I am completely open and appreciate
    knowledgeable
input, knowing mistakes will be made.  Thank you.
