  • Mint Location: West Point, Philadelphia, Denver & San Francisco

  • Condition: Uncirculated P&D business strike coins direct from mint rolls/mint sets. Proof S coins direct from proof sets and placed in 2x2 holders for shipping. P&D satin coins still in original mint packaging. Note that zinc cents are highly reactive and almost exclusively have spotting on the coins. I source business strike cents from both mint sets and bank rolls and select the best examples from the many rolls I go through (most of the roll cents I go through I reject due to spotting). The business strike cents in this set, while nice & bright uncirculated cents, are not perfect coins and will exhibit minor scratching and some minor spotting.

    Description

    COMPLETE 2010 - 2021 43 Lincoln Shield Cent Set (to Date) with P&D Business Strikes, S Proofs & ALL Special Release Cents (2010 P&D Satin, 2017 "S" Enhanced, 2018 S Reverse Proof, 2019 W Proof, 2019  W Reverse Proof, 2019 W Business Strike)
Up for sale is a COMPLETE 2010 - 2021 43 Coin Lincoln Shield Cent set.  This set contains ALL of the Lincoln Shield Cents released to date (though 2021) including all of the special release, limited mintage coins.  The Lincoln Shield cents entered circulation in 2010 and this set is complete to date. With the continuing decline in US proof set sales over the past several years many of the proof coins are relatively scarce compared to Lincoln Memorial proof cents which is causing Lincoln Proof Shield Cents to become pricier over time (for example, as of the end of April, 2020, individual proof pricing on Ebay for the 2012 Lincoln Proof is , for the 2017 & .50 for the 2018 proofs). As well, the special release Lincoln cents (as described below) were released in limited mintages and are already relatively expensive and scarce coins.  There are a number of interesting coins in this set including:
    1) The 2010 "P" & "D" Satin Cents.  These two coins are the only "satin" strike Lincoln Shield coins the mint has released to date (there were satin "Memorial" and "Bicentennial" cents released from 2005 - 2009 as well but these are not "Shield" cents).  Satin coinage was included in the 2005 through 2010 mint sets in lieu of regular business strike coins.  Prior to 2005 and after 2010 mint sets contained and have contained uncirculated regular business strike coins.  Mintages on the US "mint sets" were modest and therefore the "satin" cents relatively scarce.
    2) The 2017 "P" cent which includes, for the first time on a Lincoln cent the "P" Mint Mark.  It is expected that the "P" will only be seen on the 2017 Philadelphia mint coin and not in the future.
    3) The 2017 "Enhanced" Uncirculated "S"  coin - In 2017 the mint released a special anniversary set including "enhanced" uncirculated coins.  This set had limited mintage (225,000) and was quite popular.  The "Enhanced Uncirculated" cent from 2017 San Francisco anniversary set is included in this set.
    4) The 2018 Reverse "S" Proof - In 2018 the mint also released a special anniversary set (this one commemorating 50 years of proof coinage at the San Francisco Mint). This special anniversary set included reverse proof coinage and the reverse proof 2018 cent in this set came from those special anniversary sets which sold out quickly at the mint with a mintage of less than 200,000 sets released.
    5) The 2019 "W" cents which included a regular proof, reverse proof and business strike coin.  The three "W" (West Point mint) coins released in 2019 were the first and thus far only "W" cents released by the US mint.  They were individually included as "bonus" coins in the US Clad proof sets, US Silver proof sets and US Mint sets, respectively.  With the limited mintage these coins are also already pricey at well over for each one.
    6) All twelve of the regular shield cent proofs produced to date.
