So I will tell you a little about me first...not that this is about me, but just so you know the seller a bit.
I bought my first CR500 in 1988 and have been riding them ever since. I have probably had 50 of them and when the aluminum frame building thing was all the rage I parted out quite a few of them and sold a few complete as well. I am a 500 rider not a collector, I bought up a lot of these for parts over the years to keep my stuff running. I am very familiar with these bikes. Back in the days of the CR500riders and the bannedcr500riders websites I was an active forum member under the same user name as I use here on ebay and I am pretty well known throughout the 500 community. I have sold lots of parts and try my best to list things to the best of my knowledge and the best accuracy possible. I am 50 years old and have finally decided to jump ship and get an electric start 300 like everyone I ride singletrack with is riding these days. The 500's are great but in the extremely difficult terrain I enjoy riding the 500's kickstarter has become an issue at 50. To help fund my new bike I am letting go of this bike.
So this bike I bought about a year ago (my wife gives me a hard time about dates so maybe 2 but not that long). I have only ridden this bike up and down the street and all seems to work as it should. I bought it because it was so clean I didn't really have the heart to take it apart. I have a 500AF I ride trails with, A steely I have a timbersled on as a snowbike, and a really clean steely set up just for sand....so this was going to supply parts to those in the event something happened or just sit as the cleanest bike I have ever personally seen.
This bike has had the easiest life of every 500 I have ever bought. The motor looks completely original like it has never even had the clutch cover removed. The top end also doesn't look like a wrench has ever touched it. Don't get too excited the plastic kit is correct on colors but looks to be a UFO replica plastic kit. The tank is original and in very nice shape for a 25 year old piece and I believe the seat cover is original as well. The seat cover has one blemish you can see in the pictures. It is on the ignition side toward the rear of the seat. It is like a scratch but doesn't protrude through the material and the material is very flexible like it didn't spend time outside. The rims and swingarm have no gouges and the rims no cracks. There is one small dent on the rear rim you can see if you expand the pictures, it is on the kickstart side of the bike only in the rear. The pipe is either unused or very lightly used pro circuit and the silencer is an FMF turbine core, the FMF silencer is more worn than the pipe but is in decent shape. All of the factory hardware appears to be proper and in the proper places. I see no sign of home depot bolts anywhere on this bike. The frame has very minimal scrub marks next to where your boots would ride. The brake pedal is the best condition I have ever seen, the shifter is tight and still has factory knurling on it and the kickstater isn't scuffed and is still a very tight piece. I believe all these to be original as supplied with the bike. I can not prove that they were not replaced at some point but the wear on the rest of the bike leads me to believe this was hardly ridden. The clutch cover is also very light on wear.  This bike is fitted with a piece I have never seen before. It has what looks identical to an eline stator but has a Honda logo in the cover. it is a little hard to see as it looks like the cover was painted I don't know if it actually functions. there are wires to the front of the bike for a light and 2 rectifiers bolted through the airbox under the seat but I have not tried its functionality. I have sold a few elines over the years and there wasnt much to them. You can still buy new windings I believe as I think that piece was out of a ducati if memory serves and the rest was just chunks of billet. The rotor and bolt were specific but that was about it. Anyway that comes with the deal as well. I don't know what bore this thing is on but I'd bet money it still has scallops in the cylinder by the looks of the rest of the bike. The bike starts up very crisp, but is currently completely drained of fuel and ready to ship but it fires first kick if you know the drill.
So full disclosure I bought this bike and did nothing other than clean it when I decided to sell it. I have not been through this bike at all. It is one of the cleanest least beat up ones I have ever seen and at the time I purchased it I thought it was about as close as I would get to one of those 500's in the crate I used to see 10 years ago. This bike would look much worse if I rode it just one time in the stuff I like to ride. All that said this is a 25 year old dirtbike that I did not go through. There could be surprises so bid accordingly. I don't think it has ever been apart in its 25 year history so although everything feels tight and right and the motor works proper, it is a 25 year old dirtbike.
I have tried to be as honest as I can about my knowledge of this bike, unfortunately on this one it is mostly just clues from the outside you will probably be able to tell for yourself from the pictures. I have a clean title for this bike and will provide the extra factory shrouds that came with the bike as well. If I was going to ride this bike or use this motor I would go through and grease everything, change the oil in the case and air filter, and scope out the top end...thats me. Do what you want, you could probably gas and go and the thing hold together till i"m gone off the planet but I always like to check them out. This is not restored, I'd describe it as a barn find with a plastic kit.
If you have questions I will try to get them answered but if you wait till the last second we may not get them answered. This is a no reserve auction so bid it to win it, it's priced much lower than most I have seen in this condition. I will ship this thing anywhere if paid in full and the shipping will be at your cost. I will even attempt to build a decent crate if thats what we need to do but you will need to pay for the wood, i'll provide my time.
Bottom line this is a pretty clean survivor of one of the baddest bikes ever built. I am sad to see it leave but am ready for my new chapter in the bike I use to ride singletrack. Unfortunately my wealth and my wife both require we get rid of some things when we want new things and seeing how I have never ridden this bike and if I was to do so would just ruin it...Its my best option of things I should sell to fund my new endeavor.

I was asked about the radiators and frame rails and realized I didn't make comment about those so I will add this. The radiators are the straightest on any bike I have bought, they look pretty close to new. They don't have a bow in them at all that they will get when you lay a bike on its side and they don't have the tweak they get when you full on pile drive one of these things and they do that movement from the tank holding the outside of the radiator and the frame bolts down the inside the get that tweak from top to bottom and this doesn't have that. I seriously don't think this bike was ever crashed and was barely ridden. The radiators are part of the giveaway and you can see the one side on the motor close up shot. They are both near perfect with maybe some fins that could be straightened if you want full perfection.
The second question I had was the frame rails. The frame rails look great, no ovaling going on. You can tell at one point it had a skid plate but didn't take any significant hits.
